Hubert Käppel was born in 1951 in Germany. He studied classical guitar in Köln and Basil under Tadashi Sasaki, Konrad Ragossning and Oscar Ghiglia. He takes part in international festivals as a soloist and teacher. He has made many recordings and performs all over the world. He teaches at Köln Hochschule für Musik. In the past he also taught at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt (Weimar). As a recognition of his contribution to the guitar world, the international guitar competition of Koblenz city has been named after him. For ten years he has been artistic director of Frechen International Guitar Festival. Moreover, he has transcribed baroque pieces by Bach and Kellner for guitar.
O Hubert Käppel γεννήθηκε το 1951 στη Γερμανία. Σπούδασε κλασική κιθάρα στην Κολωνία και τη Βασιλεία με τους Tadashi Sasaki, Konrad Ragossnig και Oscar Ghiglia. Συμμετέχει σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ ως σολίστ και ως διδάσκων σε master class. Εμφανίζεται σε ρεσιτάλ σε όλον τον κόσμο και έχει στο ενεργητικό του πολλές ηχογραφήσεις. Διδάσκει στη Hochschule für Musik της Κολωνίας (Γερμανία). Παλαιότερα δίδαξε και στη Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt της Βαϊμάρης. Ο διεθνής διαγωνισμός κιθάρας της πόλης Koblenz μετονομάστηκε σε Koblenz International Guitar Competition Hubert Käppel σε αναγνώριση της προσφοράς του στον κόσμο της κιθάρας. Επί δέκα χρόνια υπήρξε καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Κιθάρας στο Frechen της Κολωνίας. Επίσης έχει κάνει σημαντικές διασκευές προκλασικών έργων για κιθάρα (Bach, Kellner κτλ.)
Joaquin Turina (1882 – 1949) was a Spanish composer who lived during the first half of 20th century. At first he started studying pharmacy to please his parents. Soon he quited and devoted himself to music, studying piano and composition in Seville. He soon became famous for his works and decided to move to Madrid to continue his studies at Real Conservatorio Superior de Música and pursue his career in music. In 1905 we find him in Paris. There he collaborates with two other famous Spanish composers, Isaac Albéniz and Manuel de Falla. They all share the same motivation to seek inspiration in traditional Spanish music. In 1930 Turina is a famous composer and is appointed professor of composition at Real Conservatorio. He has been honored many times by the Spanish government for his contribution to the art of music. His works for guitar are a few but very important however, bearing a vivid Spanish color: Sevillana (1923), Fandanguillo (1926), Rafaga (1930), Sonata (1931) and Homenaje a Tarrega (1932). In these works he manages to employ in a very effective manner the technical particularities of the instrument.
Ο Joaquin Turina (1882 – 1949) ήταν Ισπανός συνθέτης των αρχών του 20ου αιώνα. Αρχικά ξεκίνησε να σπουδάσει φαρμακευτική για να ικανοποιήσει έτσι την επιθυμία των γονιών του. Σύντομα όμως τα παράτησε και αφοσιώθηκε στη μουσική, σπουδάζοντας πιάνο και σύνθεση στη Σεβίλλη. Σύντομα άρχισε να γίνεται διάσημος για τις συνθέσεις του και αποφάσισε να μετακομίσει στη Μαδρίτη για να συνεχίσει τις μουσικές σπουδές στο Real Conservatorio Superior de Música και να κυνηγήσει την καριέρα του.Το 1905 πηγαίνει στο Παρίσι. Συνεργάζεται στενά με δύο άλλους διάσημους Ισπανούς συνθέτες της εποχής, τον Isaac Albéniz και τον Manuel de Falla και προσπαθούν να αναζητήσουν έμπνευση για τις δημιουργίες τους στην παραδοσιακή ισπανική μουσική. Το 1930 ο Turina είναι πλέον διάσημος συνθέτης στη χώρα του και γίνεται καθηγητής σύνθεσης στο Ωδείο της Μαδρίτης. Τιμήθηκε από την Ισπανική κυβέρνηση πολλές φορές για τη προσφορά του στη μουσική τέχνη. Έχει γράψει λίγα αλλά σημαντικά έργα για κιθάρα με έντονο ισπανικό χρώμα, στα οποία αξιοποιεί πολύ καλά τις τεχνικές δυνατότητες του οργάνου: Sevillana (1923), Fandanguillo (1926), Rafaga (1930), Sonata (1931) και Homenaje a Tarrega (1932).
